We all know volunteering to advance a non-profit’s mission is impactful and rewarding.  However, have you ever considered how you can professionally grow from leaning in to non-profit work?  Hear from a group of successful accomplished business women how they have developed their overall professional skills through non-profit volunteering and leadership.

Lori Ball
President and CEO of Lab Strategies
Lori Ball is the President and CEO of LAB Strategies, a comprehensive business and strategy consulting firm. She is an accomplished executive and global leader whose drive for excellence has contributed to the growth and transformational development of organizations; noting the recent sale of BioStorage Technologies for $127 Million.  Her strengths in designing , managing and expanding global organizations paired with her business development experience and proven process improvement strengths have resulted in top line growth and bottom line contribution in a variety of industry segments including life sciences, supply chain, manufacturing and construction / restoration.  Her non-profit board work is plentiful and her passion for mentoring led recently to a stint as interim CEO of Pass the Torch for Women Foundation.

Elyssa Campodonico-Barr
President and CEO of Girls Inc, Greater Indianapolis
As President and CEO of Girls Inc., Elyssa Campodonico-Barr, helps provide girls from Indianapolis communities with the skills and knowledge to be strong, smart and bold. In her role Elyssa oversees the Girls Inc. operations and staff and provides the strategic vision and direction needed by the agency to serve girls ages 6-18 in the Indianapolis area. Elyssa last served as Chief of Staff of the Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicles and advisor to the Commissioner. She was responsible for the development and execution of the BMV’s three-year Strategic Plan, the central coordination of staff activities, and advising the Commissioner on major projects and policy initiatives. Prior to her role as Chief of Staff, Elyssa was an attorney within Indiana University’s Office of the Vice President & General Counsel where she largely focused on Title IX litigation matters. Before returning to her native Hoosier state, Elyssa worked in the international relations sector with a focus on gender equality and women’s empowerment. Elyssa holds a Doctor of Jurisprudence and a Master of Public Administration from Indiana University.  Her commitment to civic engagement and service includes serving as a member of the Invent Learning Academy Board of Directors, a founding member of the Julian Center’s Young Professional’s Board, and volunteering with the Neighborhood Christian Legal Clinic. Elyssa is a graduate of the FBI Citizens Academy and the Stanley K. Lacy Executive Leadership Series Class XLII.
Mandy M. Parris
Executive Director, Indiana Middle Market, Chase
Mandy currently manages a portfolio of clients that are headquartered in Indiana and have locations around the world. She also co-leads the firm’s commercial banking analyst program across Canada and the Midwest. Mandy has spent over fourteen years as a relationship manager after beginning her banking career with Bank One in January 2002 as a credit analyst. Mandy helped launch Executive Women in Finance (EWF) in 2015 and currently leads EWF as the President where she helps develop the topics and speakers for their events throughout the year. Mandy is also Vice President of Circle City Preparatory, a public charter school that opened in August of 2017, and joined the founding board in 2016 to help start the school. She is a graduate of the 2016 Stanley K. Lacy Executive Leadership Series (SKL), and the 2011 class of the United Way of Central Indiana Leadership United Series. Mandy is an Ambassador in the Connections Ministry for Mount Pleasant Christian Church of Greenwood, and volunteers with Junior Achievement and Habitat for Humanity. She was the Treasurer and a board member for six years at Girls Incorporated of Greater Indianapolis, has volunteered with United Way for agency evaluations and as a Torchbearer, and was a Co-Committee chair for the 500 Festival kids’ Day event.
Deborah Pollack-Milgate
Partner, Barnes & Thornburg
Deborah concentrates her practice in patent litigation, trade secrets litigation, trademark litigation, and complex commercial litigation, including antitrust litigation, contract litigation and appellate matters.  During her time at Barnes & Thornburg, Ms. Pollack-Milgate spent an extended stay in Mannheim, Germany, where she worked for and advised an international client of the firm in U.S. litigation and patent matters. She routinely presents in the German language on patent matters, and is the author of BLIPs, a quarterly German-language IP newsletter. Ms. Pollack-Milgate has been selected for inclusion in The Best Lawyers in America and Indiana Super Lawyers for several years and was recognized by The Best Lawyers in America as a 2018 Indianapolis “Lawyer of the Year” in patent litigation. She is a member of the American Bar Association, the Indiana State Bar Association, and the Indianapolis Bar Association. She is also a member of the German-American Lawyers' Association (DAJV), the German American Chamber of Commerce, and the German Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property. She is a member of the Board of the Indiana Health Industry Forum (IHIF), and a founding member of the Indianapolis ChIPs Chapter, an international organization devoted to promoting women at the confluence of technology, law, and policy. She served on the board of Women & Hi Tech for seven years and as president in 2013-2014.
