“To handle yourself, use your head; to handle others, use your heart” - Eleanor Roosevelt

Mariah Brown received her Master of Business Administration from Butler University in 2023 and a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry with a concentration in Pre-Pharmacy from Jackson State University in 2019. After graduation in 2019, Mariah began her career at Eli Lilly and Company as a scientist in the Talent Development Academy Leadership Development Program (TDA LDP). Through this program, she contributed to various small molecule drug discovery and development efforts.

During her time at Lilly, she has played a pivotal role in establishing and organizing an annual event known as “HBCU Day at Lilly”. This event is dedicated to fostering meaningful relationships and actively recruiting a diverse pool of talented students from Historically Black Colleges and Universities. Currently, Mariah is a Senior Chemist within Lilly Genetic Medicine, focusing on discovery efforts for hepatic targets of interest. She also serves as a mentor for the Big Brother Big Sister of Central Indiana and volunteers with the Indianapolis Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc. youth programming.

Mariah was drawn to Women & Hi Tech after seeing the organization actively holding events that aligned with the organization's mission. She felt included from the very beginning and saw the opportunity to interact with and learn from a diverse group of women in STEM. In her role, she aspires to make a lasting impact on the people she interacts with, pushing herself and others who are passionate about K-12 to make a meaningful difference in the lives of youth.

Mariah currently lives south of downtown Indianapolis and loves to spend time with her friends and family. She enjoys trying new activities that increase her adrenaline like skydiving, trying new foods, watching sports, and traveling in her free time.
