Karen JungKaren Jung, President, Nextech

Karen has spent the past 20 years developing a successful career in the Indianapolis tech sector. She holds a bachelor’s degree from DePauw University and master’s degree from the Krannert Graduate School of Management at Purdue University. She served as a product expert for several prominent technology companies before advancing to executive roles in product and marketing management at ExactTarget.

In 2013, Karen was asked to lead the ExactTarget Foundation. Her diverse background, business acumen and philanthropic passion made her an ideal Executive Director. Karen’s innovative new programs have engaged people, technology and resources, enabling the foundation to contribute more than $400,000 in grants and program funding to 27 organizations.

Karen became the president of Nextech in 2015, an organization whose vision is to transforming K-12 students from technology consumers into the next generation of tech pioneers. In a mere 18 months, she has taken a vision and turned it into an organization making measurable strides toward its vision. In the first year Nextech invested $125,000 in a multi-phased professional development program, equipping 20 teachers from across the state to instruct computer science courses. The program expanded to 60 teachers this year, which means thousands of students in Indiana will have now have access to computer science courses.

In October of 2016, Karen will be recognized by the Girls Scouts of Central Indiana for her leadership, passion and work to advance STEM education. She has also put her expertise and education to work professionally and as a community volunteer. She currently serves on the board of directors for Building Tomorrow, the Marion County STEM Coalition and the Indiana Sports Corp President’s Council.
